In March 2000 Microsoft released Service Release 1 (SR1) for Office 2000, and in May released an updated version - SR1a.
This Service Release is intended to fix a number of bugs in various components of the Office suite, including Access 2000. Details of these fixes are given on Microsoft's knowledge base article q245021.
The first thing worth mentioning is that to use this service release, you will need your Office 2000 CDs. Microsoft have given their explanation for this on q255499.
Secondly, many people have experienced problems after loading SR1. It is worth checking out the comments made by people on the Office Update Newsgroup (will be launched within your newsreader program, eg Outlook Express.)
It is also worth looking at the windows magazine page on this subject.
Problems with SR1 occurred on a variety of platforms but the worst ones seem to
have been those experienced by Windows 2000 users.
Microsoft's
q258549
describes 'odd behavior' you may encounter if you loaded Office 2K onto
Windows NT4, you upgraded to Windows 2000 and then applied Office SR1.
Their
o2ksr1 update page suggests those who fall into this
particular category apply
the Microsoft Office 2000/Windows 2000 Registry Repair Utility.
On 12 May 2000 Microsoft released SR1a which incorporates SR1 and this Repair
Utility, and can now be used by all users instead of SR1 - assuming you haven't yet
loaded SR1. See Microsoft's
SR1a download details page.
Microsoft also have a FAQ page covering SR1.
