My personal project on Chaos Theory has won the Lightspan Academic Excellence Award given by the Study Web organization who index sites with good educational content for use by American schools and universities.
Despite my extensive leading-edge IT skills, I will upon the 31st of March 2001 have been unemployed for an entire decade! So much for the IT Industry's fictitious skills shortage.
My sage advice to all you young up and coming IT professionals therefore is to make absolutely sure you have left the United Kingdom before your 35th birthday. Get a job in a country which respects the acquired knowledge and wisdom of age. Unless, of course you do not mind retiring into long-term unemployment and poverty like me. Think. The life span of a career in IT is now that of a personal computer or a car. Is it worth all the study and effort?
