The Virtual Hythe Project

The original Hythe Project is an informal technical specification for a generic hythe - a concept introduced in Chapter 11 of my book The Lost Inheritance. It is one possible form of a fractal socio-economic unit of the future, based around the extended nuclear family and embracing both home and work.

The Virtual Hythe is an extension to the original Hythe Project. The Virtual Hythe is an adaptive economic interface which will enable a family to live within a modern State in today's capitalist free-market global economy as if they were living in 'Hythe World'. For the most part, this adaptive interface will reside within the family PC as software which can be progressively be replaced by sustainable realities as the family's external economic and social conditions evolve towards a more liberal and egalitarian form.

The objective of the Virtual Hythe Project is to acquire help and funding to create and operate a real prototype hythe for research. The information gained from the prototype would then provide a basis for developing the Virtual Hythe design. This would then be crystallised into a suite of PC software which would allow ordinary people to practice living within a natural environment and a sustainable socio-economy.

This project is not yet ready for publication on the Web. It will probably be published on this site in September 2002, but this is not definite. Please bear with me.
