The Yield of Labour
Some would argue that what the labourer's effort yields under a modern capitalist economy is far greater than the same effort would yield in an egalitarian economy. But this is not true. Capitalism is far less the mother of invention than it is the father of stagnation.

Small entrepreneurial artisans are a rich source of ideas and inventions which cause technology to advance. They inject product variety into an economy and improve the yield of human labour. When such an invention or technical advance is seen to be successful, in jumps the capitalist. He starts to produce it on a massive scale and takes over the entire market. Product variety collapses into a high-profit mono-product. Development stagnates.

Creative invention and technological advancement is not facilitated by capitalism: but struggles along in spite of it. In an egalitarian society, technology would advance faster and easier. This in turn would increase the economic yield of human effort.
