| How can a fallible human being ever overcome the downward pull of selfishness to become a compatible member of the god species? Only by tapping into an external power source. |

Without the use of external means, the human life-form is not capable of transforming its labour into its needs of life. To survive, a human being must be allowed access to, and economic use of, an adequate portion of the Earth's natural resources. But it is these natural means which actually produce his daily bread. All he does is gather it, store it, prepare it and eat it.
Stated specifically: without the use of external physical means the human being is not capable of turning its physical labour into its physical needs.
Similarly, without the use of external spiritual means the human life-form it is equally unable to turn its spiritual labour into its spiritual needs. No matter how hard he labours, a farmer without land and seed cannot grow food. Likewise, however hard he tries, without their spiritual counterparts he cannot provide the food he needs to fuel the development of his mind.
He will never be able to acquire what it takes to expand his mind beyond the prison of self-interest towards the outer limits of neighbourly concern.
The mysterious resource, which power-assists the expansion of the mind beyond the prison of self-interest towards the outer limits of neighbourly concern, is referred to as the holy spirit or more literally, the divine wind. I suppose the message refers to it this way because it is something which can exert power upon us but cannot be seen (or even felt) physically. It implies that when we receive it during our physical human lifetimes, it has to be fed to us continuously through some kind of umbilical which is connected to a divine power source located beyond physical reality.
It thus provides the power we need to develop into god-compatible humans before being reborn as self-powered members of the god-species. We are like aircraft on ground power. Our internal engines cannot yet sustain us.
During one's second life, one can choose to get connected and make use of this power source, or one can choose to ignore it. You can choose eternal life or you can choose eternal death.
There is no acrimony. Everybody is given the free choice. Those who don't want eternal life are not subjected to any sadistic régime of eternal punishment. They are simply allowed to revert to the state they were in before they were born. After all, is having died any different from not having been born yet? Can remaining dead forever be any different from never having been born at all? Logically, I can see no reason why they should be any different.
On the other hand, those who, during this second physical lifetime, chose to get connected are reborn as gods. They cease to be physical life-forms and become spiritual ones. They are composed of hyper-material referred to analogically as wind or spirit. Their physical bodies which were made of flesh no longer exist. As life-forms they are now powerful, eternal and self-existent. They are now disconnected from external ground power. Their own engines are on 100% and they have taken off!
